In order to prevent unnecessary movement of stainless steel bearings on the shaft or housing, the inner and outer rings of bearings should be fixed axially. Axial fixation includes axial positioning and axial fastening.

1. Axial positioning
The reference end face of the inner ring of stainless steel bearing is generally positioned by the shaft shoulder, and the outer ring is positioned by the shoulder of the shell hole. In order to ensure that the bearing end face is close to the shaft (stop) shoulder, the design should ensure that the shaft (stop) shoulder chamfer R is less than the bearing assembly chamfer; The shaft (stop) shoulder shall have a certain height to transfer axial load and facilitate assembly and disassembly. The height of the shaft (stop) shoulder should be selected according to the bearing assembly chamfer.
2. Axial fastening
The axial fastening of stainless steel bearings is to make the bearings always in the position determined when positioning. Axial fastening includes the fixing of the bearing inner ring on the shaft and the fixing of the outer ring in the housing. Although the inner and outer rings of the bearing require accurate positioning, it is not necessary to make axial fixation at the same time, which should depend on the requirements of the support. In the two ends of the fixed support structure, the support only bears one-way axial load, therefore, only from one direction of the axial fixed, one end is still fixed at one end of the swimming support structure, the fixed end bears two-way axial load, therefore, the need to use two-way axial fixed, and the swimming end should be based on the type of bearing and swimming mode to determine the fixed way,
3. Axial fixing device
There are many kinds of axial fixing devices. The size of axial load, the level of speed, the type of bearing and the installation position and disassembly conditions on the shaft should be considered when selecting. Generally, when the axial load is larger and the speed is higher, the inner ring uses locking screw not, stop washer, etc., and the outer ring uses end cap, thread ring and other fastening. When the axial load is small and the speed is low, the inner ring mainly uses the shaft elastic retainer, the tightening sleeve, the removal sleeve, etc., and the outer ring mostly uses the hole elastic retainer, the stop ring, etc. Many axially fixed devices, like bearings, have become standardized parts. Such as locking nut, stop washer, shaft (hole) with elastic retaining ring, fixing sleeve, return sleeve, etc.
